Many users have complaint that on Ubuntu The first thing that you must do is to check that the mouse is plugged in and is connected properly to the system if you have a mouse with a cable. I would suggest to restart the computer to apply the changes. Now the next step shall be to check that the mouse is recognized by the computer.
In simple words, Ubuntu is able to recognize mouse attached to the system. The string that says [XExtensionPointer] next to it will show the name of the mouse. See the screenshot below. If there is no info on the screen, it means that the mouse is not recognized by the computer. In this case you should unplug the mouse and plug it again and restart the system. Once the system is up and working, run the above command to see that if the system recognizes the mouse this time.
If not, proceed to the next way that uses command line to resolve the issue. To fix this problem, open terminal and run the following command: gsettings set org.
Restart the system and I hope the mouse shall be working properly. Skip to primary navigation Skip to main content Skip to primary sidebar. How to Change the Cursor in Microsoft Excel : Microsoft Office Tips

I've just installed Ubuntu desktop Sometimes not alwaysmy mouse pointer disappears after login. After I restart, mouse usually appears again. Often the mouse pointer will disappear. I found a way to get round this by restarting lightdm:. My problem was: The mouse pointer seemed to disappear when I moved to the right side of the screen. It then appeared after say 3 to 5 seconds after moving the mouse up, down, left, right. This was quite annoying when doing work on the computer.
Click Dash upper left corner and type "system settings". I found the answer here Thanks to Justin Samuel!

Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It only takes a minute to sign up. I am having major issues with Ubuntu touchpad on a Dell Latitude Laptop. These don't work. Is there anything else I can try? This is driving me insane. For the sake of my sanity, please help me before I smash up my laptop.
Apparently it is a major bug, has been since Ubuntu Anyway, on the bug report page, a guy called Juan Hernandez juanhm suggested that installing xserver-xorg-input-libinput worked for him. I wanted to try this, so I typed:. My touchpad in System Settings is now a very very simple dialogue, BUT the pointer doesn't seem to be jumping around anymore!
The only disadvantage I can see is that I can no longer tap the touchpad to click I have to use the buttonsbut I wasn't doing that anyway! I was looking everywhere for a solution and had to dig through the history of synclientbeing replaced by libinput and the corresponding cli tool xinput. But this article solved my problem and more specifically, simply installing libinput-tools.
Bionic Beaver is not using Unity as a GUI server but uses Gnome instead, so I am guessing all the dependencies are in there already xserver-core, libinput etc. For anyone who is having issues on Ubuntu In my case SamuelH solution didn't work since everything was already installed and up to date.
What I helped was. Please refer to this solution by Alucard.Magneto parts suppliers
I have tested this with the same laptop being a Latitude E running Bionic Beaver with all the latest updates. It would seem that the pointer stick or the "nipple" is what causes the cursor to randomly jump.
If you have your backlit keyboard enabled you will see it switch on when the cursor jumps. One of the lines should be something like: "Device Enabled : 1" Take note of the ID, which is in this case.
I had this same issue. I solved it by installing Ubuntu I think it is some problem with the firmware. After upgrading to Ubuntu My Laptop and OS details:. These packages were already installed: xserver-xorg-input--libinput, xserver-xorg-input-libinput, xserver-xorg-coreno -broken dependencies, apt autoremove and apt autoclean already cleaned the OS. I decided to install it to see the results. It worked for me and the problem was gone.

I have recently created an Ubuntu When installing it, I switched to "high contrast" mode, which has rather large cursors by large I mean about twice as large and thick as they should normally are.
Now I have successfully installed the partition, the large cursors have stuck around even after exiting this high contrast mode, but only when I am hovering over stuff e. All of these cursors are too large. They cursor is only normally sized when the computer should be displaying the normal mouse pointer. Secondly, using dconf-editor install using sudo apt-get install dconf-tools.
